Kyrgyzstan’s National Statistical Committee, as reported by Gazeta.kg on 19 August 2026, counted 78,375 imported passenger cars in January–June 2026, value over USD 680 million, +36.5% versus H1 2025.
Origin: China 38,688 (2.6× y/y); Korea 25,765; USA 4,332; Japan 2,333; Germany 1,900; Russia 1,410. June alone: 13,837 cars worth USD 152.6 million, of which China 8,055 (58.2% of that month). AKIpress had already printed 30,633 Chinese cars for January–May.
Outbound: H1 passenger-car exports 1,920 (+68.1%), 1,637 of them to Russia. Trucks also rose: 13,097 imported in H1 (+10.7%), Korea 6,330, China 4,268.
Bishkek is an EAEU entry as well as a retail market. A car that clears KG is not automatically a Kazakh retail VIN.
Desk takeaway: Chinese CBU is now the base load of KG imports, not a niche. Keep re-export to RU and local som retail on different papers.
